Bucklin Old Hill Ranch Ancient Blend 2021 750ml

Bucklin is Will Bucklin's label from Old Hill Ranch in Sonoma Valley. The Ancient Field Blend comes from the ranch's Ancient Block, planted in 1885. It is a dry-farmed, organic field blend of some 30 varieties, harvested and fermented together, with Zinfandel the majority. 60% Zinfandel,15% Grenache, 10% Alicante Bouschet, 5% Petite Sirah and 10% "other" (20+ other varieties, in fact) from a twelve-acre block of vines that were planted in 1885. The vineyard is a mosaic of over two dozen grape varieties; the grapes are fermented together. Fermented with native yeast and aged 22 months in French oak, 40% of which is new. Bottled unfiltered. In short: 12 acres, 30 grape varieties, one wine.
