Description
Fortaleza is made by Guillermo Sauza, great-great-grandson of Don Cenobio Sauza, in the town of Tequila, Jalisco (NOM 1493). Agave is cooked in stone ovens, crushed with a stone tahona, fermented in open-air wooden tanks and double-distilled in copper pot stills.
The Añejo is aged in American oak for well over a year, which brings rich notes of butterscotch, dried fruit, vanilla and toasted oak, while the sweet cooked agave remains front and center. A sipping tequila to rival fine brandy.
