Description
Giacomo Conterno is among Barolo's most revered traditionalist houses, and Cascina Francia, its estate vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba, was the source of its legendary Barolos (including Monfortino) from 1978. 1982 was a great, ripe and structured Piedmont vintage.
Tasters describe a classic old-school Barolo: dense fruit with tar, licorice, camphor and mint, crisp acidity and firm tannins, with mineral drive and length. With old bottles like this, condition varies, so stand it upright and decant carefully.
